Martha's

Vineyard

March 2014

You may know this island as a place where all our President's like to go and vacay. I know it as the filming location of Steven Spielberg's JAWS.

Most of my vacations take place either around spring or fall unless I vacation to a beach. My family and I planned a trip to Martha's around late September when summer was over and school was back in session. There were some chilly days and some days that were warm enough to go sleeveless. The crowds were minimal and overall, a very enjoyable experience. I can see why the Presies love it.

JAWS is one of my favorite films. I could literally watch it back-to-back especially during summer. So, as you can imagine, I was geeking out while visiting several of the areas where JAWS was filmed.

We walked around Edgartown, where Chief Brody walks to the hardware store to buy paint to make beach closure signs.

Menemsha Harbor in Chilmark, where most of the Orca boat scenes on the water were filmed, had the most delicious lobster rolls. The restaurant we went to is called, Menemsha Galley.

Went to check out the American Legion Memorial Bridge (aka Jaws Bridge) where the shark is seen entering Sengekontacket Pond.

The Gay Head Light in Aquinnah where Brody, the Mayor and Hooper argue, has an amazing view.
