March 2021, marked one year since the pandemic hit us and began to affect our everyday lives. And just a few days before, Houston was hit with a devastating winter storm. I had to escape the confines of my apartment asap and Getaway was the way. I first came across Getaway through several Instagram ads, then one of my friends tried it and she loved it.
I booked my three-day trip about a month or so in advance for just myself and my dog. The entire process was so easy. As soon as you book your cabin you get a confirmation email and get contacted again a few days before your trip. All of the details are sent to your phone the day before. All you have to do is screenshot it (in case you lose service) and keep it handy for when you arrive.
I live in Houston so I chose to stay at the cabins located in Navasota, Texas, about an hour away from my home. My reservation was from Wednesday through Friday, my drive there and back was seamless. When you arrive you just reference your screenshot, follow the road signs and use the code to get into your cabin. That's it. Immediately start enjoying the soothing sounds of the wind blowing through the tall trees.
This was the ultimate me-time spot. There was no laptop or phone to distract me from my surroundings. I could fully take it all in and it felt incredibly healing. I cannot wait to do it again.
